Frequently Asked Questions
About our 2026 Selection Process
What are we looking for in a candidate?
We are looking for individuals with character, leadership, resilience, excellence, and dedication. We are not searching for a single profile in our candidates because we know that everyone is unique and it is our goal to exploit your authenticity. We want to see creativity, resourcefulness, and a profound desire to grow! How heavy is the academic workload?
Joining our team requires a high level of commitment and responsibility. Even though it’s demanding, the academic workload is manageable. Additionally, you will have the unconditional support of your team throughout the entire process in order to reach your goals.
The process is composed of weekly meetings, models, team retreats y finally, our participation in HNMUN 2026. A considerable number of our delegates join the delegation while being teacher assistants, studying two majors, and even working a part-time job. This hasn’t deterred them from achieving excellent results in our team.Besides the academic component, what else can delegates expect to learn throughout the year?
In addition to academic growth, you will have the opportunity to grow as a person in our team. You will learn leadership, empathy, communication, self-awareness, overcoming fears, and lots of other skills that will be important for the rest of your life, even in the professional arena.Do I have to be in a certain semester to join the team?
No, you can apply to join UNIANDES HNMUN regardless of what semester you are in.Is there an age requirement to join the team?
Yes. You have to be at least 18 years old at the moment of our trip to Boston (February 2026). Additionally, you must be an undergraduate student at Universidad de Los Andes at the time of your application. Is UNIANDES HNMUN only for Law students?
Absolutely not. Our delegation accepts people from any major or program at Universidad de Los Andes. In the past, we have had delegates from Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, Government, Architecture, Psychology, Medicine, Design, Music, Art History and several others. Is the entire process in English?
Our final objective is to participate in Harvard National Model United Nations, which is carried out completely in English. Throughout our Selection Process and our preparation, we do several activities in English in order to practice for HNMUN.Will you require my grades in my application?
We do not ask any candidate to submit their grades or GPA in their application. We believe that a number doesn’t define the type of person you are or the talent that is within you.How much does being part of the team cost?
The cost for delegates can vary depending on the circumstances (virtuality vs. in-person). The delegation must pay registration fees for every model, team retreat expenses, our trip to Boston, and several other activities. Every year we carry out various fundraising activities in order to reduce the costs for every delegate. Can I withdraw my application at any time?
It’s highly unlikely that you will regret applying to our delegation after going through all of the stages of our application process and joining this incredible team. However, we understand that it is possible that some people may want to withdraw their application for personal reasons, so it is perfectly acceptable to withdraw your application at any given time.
